with the launch AMD Radeon RX 6400, GeForce GTX1050 Ti available at a similar price card, Cheap PC finally has a corresponding upgrade? Do we finally have an access card with something new to offer better than the 2016 hardware?
In this article, we’ll use something new since the last time we tried to build a cheap gaming PC: AMD Ryzen 3 4100. That’s not much of a change compared to what the Intel Core i3-10100F has to offer, so it won’t matter to those who own four Intel cores. For those building a PC from scratch, the Ryzen 3 4100 might be a better choice. There are many more possibilities for motherboards in the AM4 ecosystem, as well as future upgrades for those who want to one day promote their own “Inexpensive PC for the Perfect PC”.
Another item on our radar is the balance between the input card and integrated graphics. Since the skyrocketing prices, we’ve said countless times that it makes sense to buy a PC with integrated graphics and only spend on graphics cards in high-performance segments. Here we compare the gaming performance of the Ryzen 3 4100 + Radeon RX 6400 combination with the Ryzen 5 5600G alone. Note that the CPU+GPU combo currently costs R$1300 vs R$1600 for the 5600G (research done 07/21).

The cost increase is noticeable, but it is clear that we have a much higher gaming performance on the Radeon RX 6400 than on the integrated graphics of the Ryzen 5 5600G.. The difference is big enough to justify the higher price. But there is one detail that I would like to point out: the Ryzen 5 5600G is a much better processor than the Ryzen 3 4100, which will be relevant for those who want to upgrade their graphics card in the future:
But for those who haven’t done this long-term planning and want to play now with a limited budget, will the Ryzen 3 4100 and Radeon RX 6400 combo work? Time to play games!
The setup used also includes an Asus A320 motherboard, which means we have additional limitations when using a system based on PCIe 3.0 and only 4 lanes. Fortunately, this problem didn’t become a major issue in our review of the RX 6400, but it does affect average performance and can hinder gaming.

Working so close to the edges, as has always been the case with the PC Baratinho series, causes problems with heavy games and releases. The Ryzen 3 + RX 6400 configuration performed everything we tested, but with varying degrees of success.
Games like Warzone did better than expectedo, enough stability and frame rate to run with good level for good gameplay. PUBG, which is often problematic on the Radeon, also performed surprisingly well, with both games running at a lower 1080p resolution in order to aim for higher frame rates rather than visual quality. The Ryzen 3 4100 struggled to push the game in PUBG when there were many players nearby, indicating that the processor was overloaded.
Rainbow Six Siege was good. Some parts are a little shaky and the frame rate is 120 fps, which is not a big deal for a game that easily passes 200 in many simple components. But the real upsets came in games we already knew were going to be crap. The first was Deathloop, which simply crashes on cards below 6GB when running at 1080p. The low bandwidth of the PCIe slot and the small VRAM made the game very poor, which is what we already imagined, because the 6500 XT also behaved very poorly in this game:
Another game that wasn’t very compatible was God of War and that game had issues with the Radeon. With the appropriate graphics tweaks, you can play, but I think the graphics quality and game stability are below what I’d like.
Are Ryzen 3 4100 and Radeon RX 6400 worth it?
As we have already defended in other articles, this input segment is usually not a good choice, especially for video cards. These cards are overpriced for the performance and quality of gaming they offer.. The following example is a good example, with the GeForce GTX 1660 Super and Ti appearing on the chart and priced at Rs 1,700. This is a big increase in price, but also in game quality, in addition to solving problems such as the lack of a video decoder for streaming and VRAM:

But it’s not just a video card. I would also keep an eye on the processor. The Ryzen 5 4500 sometimes costs 100 reais less than the 4100, but it has more cores and threads and performs much better:

However, if your budget doesn’t stretch to these more expensive components and you have to settle for this duo, the combination of Ryzen 3 4100 and Radeon RX 6400 can handle almost everything, making adjustments and concessions in terms of graphics quality. It is enough to play and know that there is nothing else. No streaming or parallelization. After all, you’re running games with no performance on the components.
