From the sewers of New York to the star

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are well known to the general public because they are repeated several times in cinemas, television, comics and games.

If you don’t know them, they are humanoid turtles.

Master Raphael, Michelangelo, Donatello and Leonardo, trained by a rat who plays the role of a mutant and a father of children, become the heroes of New York and face the terrible villains of the Foot Clan. There is a direct connection with the origin of turtles and splinters.

By showing the team and its already created supporting characters, the game puts us on a crusade against the destroyer, who meets other villains known to the fans and tries to dominate the world once again.

continuous

Following the traditional Beat ’em up formula and referring to the Turtles’ own games of the ’80s and’ 90s, Shredder’s Revenge presents a frantic action that always has no place to relax.

The pace of the game further immerses us in the urgency of the protagonists ’mission to race against time to save New Yorkers and stop Foot Clan plans.

Although there are only 16 stages in the game, the campaign can end in about two hours, but we can say that everything is done in the right amount so that the entertainment does not turn into a boring repetition.

With a variety of enemies, the plot opens with fun, funny moments that complement the fun game, especially when you’re out with friends.

When it comes to multiplayer play, the number of elements, visual effects, and gestures on the screen can be quite confusing when you’re with a full team, which can confuse your character with the character of your friends, but I’m sure. Make the mechanics and game more interesting, but many may see it as a technical problem.

An improved soundtrack

Nostalgia and immersion are complemented by a score created by Ti Lopez with the contributions of guitarist Johnny Atma, rapper Mega Ran, singer Mike Patton and the duo Ghostface Killah and Raekwon from the hip-hop group Wu-Tang Clan.

Giving the tortoises a musical taste, the track incorporates the immediate action of the game and gives us strength during matches, as well as evokes the atmosphere of a metropolis like New York.

The sound effects are not far behind, let alone the attacks of the enemy, the skill of the heroes and everything in between.

The biggest “fault” of the game is probably the lack of dubbing in the Brazilian-Portuguese language. Despite the localization of the texts in our language, dubbing would not only attract the attention of young players, but also be a “glaze on the cake” to make everything more effective.

Far from event mode

Those who love challenges and are simply not satisfied with the story mode can enjoy the Arcade mode, which is designed for those who have a number of additional challenges and really want to overcome themselves.

In addition to increasing the repetition factor, the arcade mode is also great for training your skills and shaking up the story mode.

Do I need to invest?

Going against the grain of big producers who are looking for increasingly complex and realistic games, Dotemu gives us a classic and simple experience, but with so many concepts and fun things, it’s hard to do anything today.

Teenage Ninja Mutant Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge is an amazing game to gather friends and have fun. Although a short campaign, the game knows “when to stop” and provides a short, colorful experience with funny dialogues that create good humor during the game.

If you want to take a break from the frustrated multiplayer or look for an experience to distract you, this is definitely the perfect game.

The game is now available for PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S / X, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch and Xbox Game Pass.

Bringing back the art of 2D Pixel Art, which was very expensive for many, Dotemu is able to create detailed, colorful and very attractive visuals and backgrounds

Adopting a simple and classic style, the game attracts all players, despite the occasional visual confusion.

Knowing when to stop to avoid recurrence, some narrative claims may have a better background.

Definitely one of the highlights of the game.

The scores, visuals and gameplay really make us feel part of the Turtles team.

Total score

Despite its simplicity, we are quickly drawn to nostalgia and ease of management.
