EA has confirmed the divorce and announced the name of the new football game

The days of the FIFA franchise are numbered. Game developer EA Sports announced this afternoon that the game will be called EA Sports FC from July 2023 – confirming the break from the maximum football facility.

Released in late September / early October this year, Fifa 23 will be the last game in the history of the franchise to bear the name of the subject.

EA stressed that all regimes at FIFA will also be at EA Sports FC, such as the Ultimate Team, Career Mode, Pro Clubs and Volta.

Then there are exclusive deals with the Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A, MLS, UEFA, Conmebol and Nike.

With these deals, EA understands that it is no longer important to get the seal of the official football simulator for the game to win the FIFA brand – its main competitor in the segment is eFootball, formerly PES (Pro Evolution Soccer), renamed. By Konami in 2021.

In October 2021, from the speaker Marcel Rizzo UOL EsporteEA has announced that it has canceled a multimillion-dollar license agreement with FIFA that expires this year.

According to the New York Times journalist Tariq Panja, the EA used to pay FIFA more than $ 100 million annually, which would be the main commercial income of the international federation today. The economic crisis caused by the pandemic means that EA is ready to save this amount, which will be a blow to the account of the entity that controls football.
