Humboldt County Public Health announced today that a 70-year-old man has died. It was also reported that a 70-year-old resident was admitted to a new hospital. An additional 253 confirmed positive COVID-19 cases, as well as 101 new probable cases, were announced between Tuesday, July 19 and July 26. The total number of confirmed cases across the county stands at 20,613. An additional 4,473 cases were reported as probable*.

OptumServe offers rapid antigen testing and PCR testing services at the Wharfinger facility. If a participant does not require a PCR test, then participants will only receive a rapid antigen test. Appointments for antigen testing can be made at lhi.care/covidtesting or by calling 888-634-1123. Wharfinger testing is open from 7:00am to 7:00pm and closed from 11:00am to 4:00pm and 4:00pm to 5:00pm

Local vaccination information has been updated on the COVID-19 dashboard. Highlights include:

  • Since the last weekly report on July 20, an additional 94 residents have completed the vaccine series.
  • As of Tuesday, a total of 90,871 people, or about 67% of the county’s total population, had been vaccinated.

Vaccines remain readily available in Humboldt County and, as always, Humboldt vaccination and testing services are free. Walk-ins are accepted at all public health clinics and some pharmacy vaccination sites. Appointments can also be made at MyTurn.ca.gov.

New clinics for children aged 6 months to 5 years have been added in many locations. Appointments are required for early childhood clinics and can be made at MyTurn.ca.gov. * “Confirmed cases” refers to generally confirmed positive PCR test results or detection of SARS-CoV-2 by genomic sequencing, and “probable cases” are:

  • Have a positive antigen (Ag) test for COVID-19 or
  • A healthcare worker who has or has been diagnosed with COVID-19
  • If you have symptoms of COVID-19 after being in close contact with someone with a PCR-confirmed test result, or
  • A decedent whose death certificate lists COVID-19 as the cause or significant factor in their death in the absence of a positive PCR test result.
