How it Works

Creating and maintaining websites serving chemical structure content can be a slow, expensive, and frustrating experience. We created Chemcaster to solve this problem. Chemcaster is a Web-based platform that eliminates the need to install, configure, and maintain cheminformatics software and data on your servers.

Cheminformatics Web Services

Chemcaster offers Web services in three basic categories: (1) chemical structure registration; (2) chemical structure imaging; and (3) chemical structure search. We'll be offering these services as monthly subscriptions on a sliding price scale based on the maximum number of substances you'd like to host.

Administrative Interface

One of the best ways to get started with Chemcaster is through the browser- based administrative interface. This interface gives you access to the same resources available through the REST API, including substance registration and structure search.

Your Own Substance Registry

Your structures are contained in a Registry that sets policies to ensure normalization, uniqueness, and validation. These policies can be configured and changed to adapt to the needs of your organization. Your account can accomodate multiple Registries.

Images on Demand

Full-color, 2D images can be generated on-demand at any resolution up to your plan's limit. Our proprietary rendering engine ensures that your structures will be visible and readable no matter what size you choose to display them at, and regardless of atom coordinate scaling.

Fast Exact- and Substructure Search

Chemcaster enables you to search the structures in your Registry by either exact structure or substructure. You can present these search results to users of your site with any markup you desire.

Built for the Web

Chemcaster has been built from the ground up to solve the problems of Web-based publishers of chemical content. The RESTful API brings together proven Web standards widely used in distributed computing today.

Rapid Prototyping and Development

Chemcaster currently offers two REST clients to streamline development: Ruby and PHP. These clients are distributed free of charge under under a highly permissive open source license.

Alternatively, the uniform nature of Chemcaster's API makes it straightforward to build custom clients that work with HTTP directly. Please contact us if your require a custom Chemcaster client.
